A mattress factory in India has found a novel use for pre-loved masks and gloves.
A factory in Maharashtra, India, has been caught stuffing discarded face masks and gloves inside mattresses.
The police raided the manufacturing facility after a getting a tip off about the unhygienic practice, Pharmacy Daily reports.
“When the officials visited the premises, they found a mattress being stuffed with used masks … a case was registered against the factory owner,” according to a police statement.
The unorthodox mattress filling was set on fire after the police investigation to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19.
The pandemic has been a tragedy for the Maharashtra region, with almost 60,000 deaths and 3.4 million cases.
