Country music legend Dolly Parton sings ‘Jolene’ (with some words switched) before getting the COVID shot.

Country music legend Dolly Parton has switched the words of her hit song Jolene to celebrate receiving the COVID-19 vaccination – and to encourage others to get vaccinated as well.

In a video posted to her Twitter page last week, Dolly Parton gets her Moderna vaccination after singing a few lines of what is probably the catchiest COVID tune to date.

“I even changed one of my songs to fit the occasion,” she says. “It goes, ‘Vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, I’m begging of you please don’t hesitate. Vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, because once you’re dead, that’s a bit too late.’”

The 75-year-old singer donated $1 million to the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Tennessee last year to help fund COVID vaccine development.

“I’m so excited. I’ve been waiting a while,” Dolly Parton says in the video.

“I’m old enough to get it and I’m smart enough to get it. I’m trying to be funny now, but I’m dead serious about the vaccine.”

If you hear something catchy, sing something catchy… We’ll be humming that song for the rest of the year. Send tips to felicity@medicalrepublic.com.au
