Because Twitter was made for this moment.
Twitter exploded with glee and schadenfreude this afternoon, as the news that President Donald Trump had tested positive for Covid-19 broke.
Within minutes of the announcement, the #TrumpHasCovid hashtag popped into existence and ROFL gifs flooded news feeds.
Trump has repeatedly downplayed the pandemic that has claimed over one million lives worldwide and about 200,000 of his own fellow Americans.
Just days ago, during the first presidential debate, Trump mocked his political opponent Joe Biden for routinely wearing a mask.
Trump, 74, is now isolating in the White House with FLOTUS Melania Trump, who also tested positive for Covid-19.
The Presidentâs physician said he was âwellâ and it is not known whether he is experiencing symptoms.
If you thought the world did not contain enough wit to capture irony of such historic proportions, you were wrong.
Twitter was made for moments like this.
