In this episode we talk to a GP practice that is fighting to keep its doors open in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic which has dried up its cash flow and left staff vulnerable
Dr Farzana Mitra is a GP in Townsville, Queensland.
Dr Mitra (69) and her GP husband (72) own a medical practice which employs four staff members.
Last year, Dr Mitra and her husband were planning to retire and find some younger vocationally registered GPs to take over their practice.
But since COVID-19 has hit, face-to-face attendances have plummeted and their existing patients are either not taking up telehealth, or are contraindicated from a teleconsult.
We hear from Dr Mitra about their fears for their own health, and trying to keep the doors of their clinic open.
