Pregnant women should be vaccinated against influenza and pertussis, paediatrician Professor Kristine Macartney says
Pregnant women should be vaccinated against influenza and pertussis, Professor Kristine Macartney, a paediatrician specialising in infectious diseases at the University of Sydney, says.
The flu vaccine can be given to pregnant women at any time of the year and not just in the lead up to the flu season, she says.
“A single dose of pertussis vaccine is recommended during pregnancy between 28 and 32 weeks’ gestation,” she says.
