Surgical corrections for stress incontinence have come a long way in recent years
Surgical corrections for stress incontinence have come a long way since Dr Ian Tucker helped establish the subspecialty of urogynaenology in the late 80s.
“Over the years, there is been simplification of procedures with obturatored tapes and single incision slings,” says Dr Tucker, a urogynaenologist and gynaecologist at Adelaide Specialist Incontinence Services.
Specialists debate over which is the best approach.
“Fortunately, they are all fairly good and we now have quite a range of surgical corrections available,” says Dr Tucker.
In this video, Dr Tucker discusses:
– If needed, what surgical techniques may be used for stress incontinence?
– How does prolapse complicate the correction of stress incontinence?
