The Medicare indications for isotretinoin are narrow, but the drug can be considered for patients on private prescription
The Medicare indications for isotretinoin are quite narrow, but the drug can be considered for patients on private prescription, says Dr Phillip Artemi.
âThe Medicare indications are severe nodular cystic acne non-responsive to other traditional forms of treatment,â Dr Artemi, a dermatologist, says.
âThatâs the guidelines that we use for the majority of patients. But youâve got to appreciate that every patient is different.
âA patient who has tried every treatment, a patient who has acne scarring, significant problems of low self-esteem, depression and relationships, you would need to consider using that drug.â
