Sharing underwear this Valentine’s? Think again

There are other ways to show your love than using the same toothbrush.

A London cleaning company is urging couples to reflect on just how gross the closeness of their relationship has become.

The objection is less about the horrifying levels of PDA witnessed around this time of year, but rather the disgusting habit of couples sharing toothbrushes and underwear.

Far from couples reporting having cute ‘his’ and ‘hers’ arrangements at home, towels, razors and undergarments were being shared with alarming frequency, according to a survey of 4,330 couples conducted by End of Tenancy Cleaning London.

The results are grim.

Around 40% of couples shared toothbrushes – a habit that dentists say increases the risk of infection.

Around 80% of partners share towels, which is gross because towels can harbour nasty bacteria.

Underwear was shared between 27% of survey respondents, and no one should need a lecture from a professor of genital warts to understand why that’s not a great idea.
