The Australian College of Nurse Practitioners (ACNP) has chosen Wolters Kluwer’s evidence-based clinical decision support solution UpToDate, which ACNP purchased through Wolters Kluwer channel partner Clinician’s Matrix, to better assist its members and their patients in helping make clinical decisions
ACNP President, Leanne Boase, has used UpToDate throughout her career as a nurse practitioner (NP) and says it is an extremely valuable resource to support her research and clinical decisions. Additionally, being a cloud-based solution, UpToDate enables NPs to access critical clinical decision support on any device, anywhere they are treating patients.
“Depending on where our members work, and in what sector of the health industry, the availability of resources varies greatly,” Boase explains. “Today, there are even more NPs moving into private practice, so we wanted to provide members with a real benefit that can help them wherever they see patients.”
The ACNP is currently promoting UpToDate to its membership of over 1200 Nurse Practitioners. The promotion is offered through its Member Benefits on the ACNP website and is included in its monthly communications to members, via the ACNP member newsletter In Focus.
“The decision was made to offer UpToDate in March 2020, before COVID-19. However, the information made available to ACNP Members on COVID-19, particularly at the beginning of the pandemic, was very helpful,” Boase said. “We are always looking to add value for our members and had never used anything like this before. UpToDate is a great resource for NPs to support them in their clinical decisions with their patients’ treatment. We have now ensured these tools are available for NPs around Australia, via ACNP.”
“Clinician’s Matrix have been instrumental in helping practitioners and health professionals across Australia to leverage the power of UpToDate’s clinical decision support solution, particularly as the pandemic continues to change the way healthcare is delivered,” said Hong Nguyen, Regional Director, Clinical Effectiveness, Wolters Kluwer, Health.
“The partnership with the ACNP is particularly important in this time of crisis, where clinical information is changing overnight. Since January of this year, we have made over 600 updates to 42 COVID-19 topics, with more than 12 million views of our content. We are committed to supporting the ACNP community now and in the future.”
