CPD Australia is one of three non-college CPD Homes available to all doctors.
CPD Australia’s CPD Home is live and operational, meeting its aim of being the “most affordable” yet.
The new Home, launched by two registrars Dr Tristan Dale and Dr Hamish Newman, is offering a $99 + GST ($109) deal for year one, and $199 + GST ($219) ongoing.
This places the CPD Home as the cheapest option on the market to date.
CPD Australia is also offering a seven-day, try-before-you-buy free trial.
In terms of what the platform offers, it tracks the required 50 hours of CPD across the three activity types: educational, reviewing performance and measuring outcomes.
The program also requires every doctor to complete at least half an hour that focuses on culturally safe practice, addressing health inequities, professionalism, and ethical practice.
For specialists with additional high level requirement, the platform “organise[s] these requirements, and prompt[s] doctors on what needs to be done, all through the platform”.
CPD Australia liaises with AHPRA on behalf of its members at the end of the CPD year.
For those that do not need to designate a CPD Home (e.g some interns or PGY2 doctors), a ‘light’ version is available to store and track CPD.
The platform offers recommended content based on CPD requirements and can generate compliance reports.
CPD Australia told The Medical Republic that its focus solely on CPD enabled it to keep down costs.
“Our organisation is established purely for the operation of a CPD Home, and to this end, we have reduced overhead costs that perhaps other Homes may experience,” they said.
“This means we can focus our resources on delivering a CPD Home with the support of a skilled team of professionals from diverse backgrounds, including medical education, business management, cultural support, IT, and beyond, all working to assist practitioners and ensure the smooth operation of our organisation.
“Since our focus is solely CPD, we can reinvest directly into enhancing our product and improving our services.
“We believe CPD shouldn’t be expensive to record or track.
“CPD Australia aims to be the most affordable CPD Home in Australia.”
