CPD Australia will open its virtual doors in November, offering what it promises will be the most affordable option on the market.
A fifth non-college CPD home will be available to Australian doctors in less than a month, after receiving the final green light from the medical council.
The two doctors behind the new home, CPD Australia, are basic physician trainee Dr Tristan Dale and ICU registrar Dr Hamish Newman.
Both are based in Perth.
Dr Dale told The Medical Republic that CPD Australia aimed to provide a “comprehensive platform for all doctors, including those with specialist high-level requirements and those who are not currently training with a specialist medical college”.
It will join the AMAWA-run Doctorportal Learning, Osler Technology, Health Education and Training Institute and Skin Cancer College Australasia on the list of non-college-affiliated organisations offering CPD points lodging for doctors.
Of the existing four organisations, two cater to specific subsets of doctors and two are open to all doctors.
Health Education and Training Institute is only open to NSW junior doctors who are not on accredited training pathways, and the Skin Cancer College Australasia is only for doctors who have an interest in skin cancer medicine.
CPD Australia, like both Osler and Doctorportal Learning, will be open to all doctors.

GP CPD homes are also available at the two colleges.
Only RACGP members can access its CPD home.
ACRRM, meanwhile, has two CPD homes: one comprehensive offering for members and one cheaper, stripped back offering for non-members.
While it hasn’t released its pricing structure year, Dr Dale said CPD Australia aims to be the most affordable CPD home on the market.
The price point it will have to beat is Osler’s, at $163 per annum.
