What will you do with all that precious time AI has given back to you? ‘More work’ is the wrong answer.
Thanks to cutting-edge AI scribe technology GPs will be able to save up to 30 whole seconds a patient!
But what will you do with that extra 15 minutes a day?
Professor Candid has some ideas.
1. See another patient
If you’re completely insane you can always squeeze in an extra patient. If this is your answer to “what will I do with an extra 15 minutes?” then you’re a lost cause and not even an AI scribe can help you.
2. Existential crisis
A quarter of an hour staring at a blank wall ruminating on the pointless charade you call a life may be all you need to get back on track. Remember, it’s good to take time out and let the mind wander, even if it does mean confronting the pitiless void.
3. Knock one out
Fifteen minutes is plenty. But it’s probably best if you wait until you get home, unless you want to spend way more than 15 minutes explaining yourself to AHPRA.
4. YouTube
You plan to watch a CKD update. But for some inexplicable reason you end up watching Check it Out! with Dr Steve Brule, Massive Attack’s Angel and a supernatural hat maker’s fantasy world from the 1980s.
An hour later you emerge red-eyed from an electronic rabbit hole knowing less about CKD than when you started.
5. Take a power nap
Climb on the examination couch and have a bit of shut-eye. Remember to set your alarm as 15 minutes can easily turn into a couple of hours, and waking up with a dry mouth not knowing who or where you are isn’t a good look. Come to think of it, that’s why your first marriage ended.
6. Talk to your patients
Lol, no. Nothing good can come of this.
7. Write
Try your hand at poetry, song lyrics or even a column. For example, this took just under 15 minutes to write and it’s all thanks to Lyrebird.
