Online voting for changes to RACGP governance will be available from 6pm Tuesday 30 May. Here’s how to vote, according to the RACGP:
How do I attend the online meeting?
Voting and attendance at the EGM will be conducted electronically to allow equity and ease of access for all RACGP members across Australia.
It is strongly recommended that you either download the ‘Lumi AGM’ app or check the Lumi EGM website in advance of the 8.00 pm (AEST) meeting time to ensure access capability.
Login for the Lumi AGM app and the Lumi website will be available from 6pm Tuesday 30 May (AEST).
Please log in by 7.30 pm (AEST) to ensure you are online with plenty of time before the meeting starts.
For detailed login instructions, please visit the RACGP website.
If I nominate the meeting Chair as my proxy, and I direct them to vote ‘against’ the Special Resolutions, do they have to honour my vote or can they vote as they wish? (i.e. can the Chair vote in support of the resolutions, even if I want to vote against?)
If you nominate the meeting Chair, you can direct them exactly how you would like to vote and they must honour your vote.
Proxy voting is a two stage process:
1) Nominate your proxy.
2) Direct how you wish your proxy to vote on your behalf: ‘Yes’, ‘No’, or ‘Abstain’.
Alternatively, your proxy can be directed to vote how they wish on your behalf.
Irrespective of who becomes the end proxy, your allocated voting direction will still stand. Therefore, even if you appoint the meeting Chair (who does intend to vote in favour of both resolutions), but you provide a ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ vote direction, the meeting Chair will still need to vote ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ according to your wishes.
You can amend or update your proxy nomination as often as you like until the proxy nomination period closes (at 8.00 pm AEST, Sunday 28 May 2017).
