Four candidates are in the race to become the next RACGP president in voting to take place from 10 June
The four contenders are Dr Bruce Mugford, Dr Harry Nespolon, Dr Bastian Seidel and Dr Ayman Shenouda.
The victor will take over from current President Dr Frank Jones, who will leave the post in September after a two-year term. The ballot will remain open until 27 June, with the result to be announced on 29 June.
Dr Mugford is a South Australian GP and former long-serving CEO of Sturt Fleurieu General Practice Training. Currently he is Primary Health Care Ltd’s director of clinical councils and head of the Primary Health Care Institute.
Dr Nespolon is a Sydney GP and practice owner with a background in management consultancy. Currently, he is chair of GP Synergy and deputy chair of Sydney North Primary Health Network.
Dr Seidel is the current chair of the RACGP in Tasmania and has been national spokesperson for the RACGP’s #CoPayNoWay and #You’veBeenTargeted campaigns. He has also represented the college at Senate hearings.
Dr Ayman Shenouda, is a GP and practice owner in Wagga Wagga, NSW and current chair of RACGP Rural Faculty and Remote Vocational Training Scheme. He was awarded the 2009 RACGP GP of the Year and RACGP Practice of the Year 2007 (NSW-ACT) and has been named one of the 50 most influential people in general practice.
Two nominations were received for the position of RACGP Registrar Representative. They are Dr Cory Lei and Dr Mary-Therese Wyatt.
