The nude neurosurgeon

Cancer Neurology

Neurosurgeon Professor Charlie Teo plans to be underdressed at an upcoming Sydney charity event. In fact, along with 1,000 other people, he will be swimming butt naked in the fifth annual “Sydney Skinny”.

Clothes, constraints and inhibitions will be left on the sand as people dive off Cobbler’s Beach, Middle Head for an ocean swim on Sunday 19 March.

The event will raise money for a number of Australian charities and causes, including Cure Brain Cancer Foundation and the Foundation of National Parks and Wildlife.

“I like getting out of my comfort zone,” Professor Teo said. “And getting naked in front of 1,000 other Sydney-siders certainly puts you in a place that is unfamiliar, daunting, challenging and confronting.”

Brain cancer was the deadliest form of cancer that killed more children than any other, Professor Teo said. “For getting out of your comfort zone for a brief moment you will help people with brain cancer get back into one.”
