The studies investigating the safety of anti-obesity drugs often exclude people with mental health problems, creating an information gap for doctors.

However, obesity can lead to a shorter and poorer quality life so “despite the lack of evidence, I think that we need to at least try and look at what evidence we have and look at case studies of safety profiles,” Dr Marlene Than, a Melbourne-based GP with an interest in weight management, says.
